It is with great sadness that Shenington Kart Racing Club has to report our Treasurer and long-time committee member Bryan passed away last Thursday 20th October at his home in Westward Heath, Coventry. Although he had not been in the best of health recently, he was still actively involved with the running of Shenington KC attending most of our events and the Committee meetings, it came as a great shock to us all who were close to him along with his family and great many friends.
His first experience of karting was in the early days of the sport starting in 1961 until the end of 1966, he raced a Class 4 Standard Keele Villiers (this was the gearbox forerunner of the 210 National class as it is known now). The photo shows Bryan competing at the Snetterton 9 hours enduro event in 1966.
He later became involved with Karting at Shenington in the mid-eighties when his son Martin started racing and soon joined the Committee, he worked tirelessly for the club ever since, acting as the club Treasurer for more years than we can remember and prior to that was the Club Chairman. In many ways, Bryan was the ‘Rock’ that served as the Club foundation, a wise and highly intelligent gentleman with a wealth of knowledge from his days, before retirement, in the business organisation. For Bryan and his family it has been a lifetime dedicated to the world of karting and we at Shenington have been lucky enough to benefit from his passion for the sport.
We send our condolences and thoughts to his family wife, Louisa, sons Mark & Martin, and grand-daughter Samantha.
RIP
Bryan Riman
